
A group of physicians from Dow Medical College Karachi decided to forma loose group in 1989 and start helping Sobraj Maternity Home on Robson Road, Karachi and helped blood bank till 1998. Then they got in touch with Dr. Shershah Syed and PMA, Karachi team and decided to help indigent population of Karachi especially for OBGYN care.
Many of the Dow Medical College graduates and others were involved in NSF during their student days and felt about providing a better care for the needy. Finally decided to make a formal group under the name of National Health Forum, Inc. to get the status of tax exempt organization under IRS rules and became 501-3-c organization. The status was approved by IRS in November 2006 and work began from January 1st 2007 under this new organization.
Mission Statement
1. To increase awareness about healthcare issues in developing countries in general and in Pakistan; by educating Pakistanis and the international community about the existing conditions and medical practices in Medical Profession
2. To help initiate public debate providing health care to all, irrespective of religion, ethnicity or without any discrimination. To also help non-for-profits organizations in Pakistan and in USA who are working in healthcare and medical education sector.
3. To work against Quackery which exist in Medical Profession
4. To increase public awareness on prevention and understanding the disease.
5. Provide direct patient care, and promoting Medical Education.
